Now that the springtime is rapidly approaching, you are probably looking forward to doing a little bit of landscaping and gardening. You might be ready to turn on your trusty sprinkler system, but you shouldn't just turn it on and hope for the best. Instead, follow these tips when turning your sprinkler system back on for the springtime season.
Examine and Clean Your Sprinkler Heads
Now is a good time to examine and clean your sprinkler heads. Throughout the winter months, they may have gotten dirty and could be covered in dirt, salt or other debris. Plus, now is a good time to check for mineral deposits from your water. You may be able to wipe them off with a clean, damp cloth; if this doesn't do the trick, consider removing them and handwashing them with a good dish soap, and then rinsing them thoroughly before putting them back on. This will help ensure that the water will come out of your sprinkler heads as it is supposed to.
Clean Your Sensors
If your system has a weather sensor that tells your system not to turn on when it's raining, check it and clean it off carefully. If it's dirty, it might not work properly, and you don't want your system running when it's pouring outside.
Turn the Water On Slowly
Don't just crank up the main water valve to your sprinkler system -- instead, turn it on slowly. This will allow the water to go through the pipes slowly rather than with too much pressure.
Check and Adjust Your Automatic Schedule
Just because the automatic schedule that you set on your controller worked last year doesn't mean that it's a good fit for this year. For example, your area might be under water restrictions that need to be taken into consideration when setting up your schedule. Check the schedule on your controller, and adjust it as needed
Watch it in Action
It's a good idea to do a test run or to make sure that you're around when your system turns on automatically for the first time. Then, you can check for any sprinklers that aren't working or any other issues that might need to be addressed.
Turning on your sprinkler system for the first time this year can be a sign of the upcoming warm weather. Follow these tips when doing so to make sure that your sprinkler turn ons run smoothly, or consider hiring a pro to come out and take a look and to turn on your system for you.
Hi, I'm Victor Grayson. The bedroom is my sanctuary. After working at a labor intensive job all day, I look forward to falling into bed and relaxing. As a result, I really took the time to prepare my bedroom for the ultimate in relaxation. I paid close attention to the different types of furniture, bedding and decorations that would work well in that space. I used a variety of techniques to make sure my bedroom made it easy to rest without distractions. That means that my room is free of electronics and light emitting devices, beyond the single lamp on the bedside table. However, there are many different ways to set up the bedroom space. I will use this site to discuss the different types of bedroom layouts you can create. I will also talk about the wide range of furniture items you can choose for your sleeping space.
